Product Description
TCM5PS is intended to manage a submerged single phase manual pump and control mains water top-up to the same tank to ensure the availability of water when the level becomes low.
Pump control is managed by a Mac3 E-Control pressure switch unit which will start and stop the pump as needed based on pressure in the discharge pipework. Any manual pump up to 8A with at least 1.5 bar pressure can be controlled to provide a reliable flow of pressurised water on demand. This system is not intended for automatic pressure controlled pumps such as SteelPumps X-AJE series or DAB Divertron.
The restart pressure can be adjusted from the factory default of 1.5 bar by using a dial on the back of the control unit. This allows the installer to set the restart pressure to anywhere within the range of 0.8 - 2.2 bar.
The incoming rainwater supply to the building passes through the control unit, where pressure and flow are sensed and the pump controlled accordingly. A pressure vessel is recommended and this should be installed in the pipework after the controller.
This product features dry run protection with a visual warning light on the control panel to provide indication of a pump fault.
An integrated Anti-Lock feature protects against possible pump seizure during infrequent use by starting the pump once every 24 hours, maintaining lubrication of shaft seals and ensuring regular rotation of the motor to reduce the possibility of blockage.
Dry-run detection is achieved by flow sensing, protecting the pump in the event that there is no water present, the pump becomes blocked, or the discharge pipework becomes disconnected from the outlet of the pump. In the event of a dry-run TCM5PS will shut down the pump and illuminate a warning light until the user intervenes and resets the system.
A brass solenoid valve provides a measured top-up of mains water via a type A-A air gap in the event that the tank level becomes low.
Water level in the tank is sensed via a float switch (see options above), and top-up of mains water is achieved via a solenoid valve connected to the mains water supply, feeding back to the rainwater tank from the building.
The solenoid will be activated when the float switch reaches a downward angle of approx 45deg or more, the top-up cycle will then continue until the float switch reaches an upward angle of approx 45deg, thereby ensuring a measured quantity of water is introduced to the tank and avoiding unnecessarily frequent top-ups.
The supplied tundish is a mandatory requirement in the UK designed to prevent contamination of the mains water supply when introducing mains water to a rainwater system.
