In your rain water collection tank or water holding tank, debris will either float to the surface of the water (where it is lighter than water - oil, pollen etc) or sink to the bottom of the tank.

These Floating Intake Filters allow the water to be collected at a distance of approximately 6" (150mm) below the surface of the water - where the cleanest water is. This prevents any floating debris to enter the pump suction hose and unlike other pump suction filters it does not fall to the bottom of the tank (where much of the debris lies).

Pre-straining the water before it enters your pump prolongs the length of life of you pump. Many pumps come fitted with a built in static strainer, however because they stay still - attached directly to the pump - they all too often get blocked. That's because there is nowhere for the in-flowing particles to go but to stay sucked into the mesh of the filter. It also means that the pump is being filled with water close to the bottom of the tank, which is where the sediment sits. Not a good place to be getting clean water from!

With a Floating Intake Filter (like these), the Intake is kept in the clearest water and the strainer is free to move around in the water. As it moves, the movement of water through the strainer frees any particles that are sucked towards it by the pump and therefore it is consistently and reliably clear to do its job - straining high quantities of water to the pump.

A brass Non-Return Valve (NRV) is included in the Floating Intake assembly as standard.

Available to fit either a 1", 1.25", 1.5" or 2" pump threaded inlets - choose from options.

Note the 1.5" and 2" floating intakes are twin float assemblies.

The basic unit comes without a hose for attaching to your own hose. Fitted lengths of Medium Duty (Domestic Grade) Suction/Discharge hose is available as a options - please choose above.
